Since the advent of
free flying, skydivers have been exceeding the design
limits of their canopies. Canopy deployment methods
were designed decades ago when RW flying was the
norm. Main canopies are designed for maximum deployment
speeds of 120 knots and below. Most Free flyers
do not take adequate time to decelerate and are
deploying at speeds above max allowable. Premature
deployment is always a risk; at free fall jump speeds
with conventional canopies you risk the serious
possibility of severe injury or death.
The Atair COBALT
is the first canopy addressing the needs of free
flyers, with high speed deployments.
Atair's development of the "2
stage deployment" (patent pending) was
created out of necessity in our progressing sport.
With 2 stage openings, Atair canopies deliver lower
opening forces to your body allowing higher speed
deployments.
Atair Aerodynamics, founded in 1992, produces over
2000 reserve and main canopies per year. Building
on a strong background in paraglider design, Atair
is bringing forth New Technological Advances in
Skydiving and Base canopies.
